Introduction to CCIT

Changzhou College of Information Technology (CCIT), the first higher vocational information college in Jiangsu Province, is affiliated to Jiangsu Economic and Information Technology Commission. CCIT¡¯s origin can be traced back to 1962 when Changzhou Qinye Electromechanical School was established. In 1980 the school was renamed Changzhou Radio Technical School. Then in October, 2000, with the official approval of Jiangsu Provincial Government, the school and Changzhou Electronical Employees¡¯ University merged into Changzhou College of Information Technology(CCIT). CCIT is located in beautiful landscaped Changzhou College Town, within easy reach of the vigorous Changzhou City in Yangtze River Delta, which is an integrated Vocational Education Area with teaching, researching, training, technic-certifying and public servicing.

These years, the college is tracing the opportunities and seeking development to promote its own ascension. In 2003, it was listed as ¡°Model Software College of Technology¡±. In 2004, it passed the evaluation of talents cultivating work in higher vocational schools directed by the Ministry of Education. In 2005, it was entitled ¡°Advanced Vocational School¡±. In 2010, it passed the assessments of ¡°State-level Model Vocational College¡±. The college was awarded honorary titles of ¡°Model School of Jiangsu¡± ¡°Advanced Ideological and Political Educational Unit¡± ¡°Jiangsu Harmonious Campus¡± ¡°Jiangsu Secure Campus¡± ¡°Star-level Model College of Students¡¯ Employment Work¡± and ¡°Advanced College of Construction of Teachers Troop¡±. Prime Minister Wen Jiabao, state leaders Jia Qingling and Zhou Yongkang inspected the college respectively, which encouraged the college to achieve further success.

The campus now covers 1,042 Mu. It has a comprehensive range of fields covering 8 categories, namely, Computer Science and Technology Academy, Electronics and Electrical Engineering Academy, Economic Management Academy, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Academy, Foreign Languages Academy, Department of Art and Design, Department of P.E, Social Science & Basics and City School. The school gathers 11,000 full-time students come from different cities and counties, and many professors, prominent teachers and employees, including about 600 full-time members, 486 of whom are teachers, and about 500-member faculty is a richly diverse group of men and women who are leaders in their respective fields. It has one ¡°State-level Outstanding Teaching Team¡±, two ¡°Provincial-level Outstanding Teaching Team¡± and one ¡°State-level Model Teacher¡±. Double-qualified teachers accounted for 81% of professional teachers. 

The college has two state-level and four provincial level training bases which are technically advanced and well-equipped, as the training base of high technical ability talents of Ministry of Labor and Social Security and Ministry of Industry and Information technology, and also owns the National Software and Information Service Outsourcing talents training base. Besides, CCIT now offers lots of qualified courses, including four state-level courses and 18 provincial ones. In recent years, the teaching achievements won two state-level prizes in the second place, and three provincial level prizes in the first place, and two in the second place respectively. And the college owns one brand major and seven characteristic majors. As far as the teaching materials, the college has designed and compiled eleven teaching materials, affiliated to ¡°The Eleventh Five-year Plan¡± of the Ministry of Education, one state-level and nine provincial-level qualified teaching materials with great care.

So far, CCIT has cooperated with dozens of foreign colleges (NanyangPolytechnic Institute, Singapore; International Institute of InformationTechnology, India; Myongji College, Korea) in schooling. A great quantity ofteachers was sent to be trained abroad every year. The college builds alliancewith Japan-funded, Korea-funded, Taiwan-funded and private enterprisesrespectively.

The college is exploring a new higher vocational school running mode. Relying on the advantages of college and Information Park, the college cultivates higher vocational and technical talents by integrating working and learning. Students¡¯ employment rate has kept over 99% in the recent years.
