11 Faculty Members Sent for Training in Centennial College Canada

To further broaden our faculty’s international vision and build CCIT into a world-renown college, 11 teachers were sent to Centennial College of Applied Arts and Technology in Canada for training from October 22-29.

During the training, our faculty members studied the higher education system and higher vocational education system of Ontario, and had a close on-site observation of Centennial College’s vocational education.

When taking the 9 theme lectures, our faculty had in-depth discussions with Centeenial’s 7 professional trainers on a range of topics such as teaching evaluation, teaching methods, co - op practice, innovation and entrepreneurship education, teachers’ professional development, academic quality and professional evaluation.

Throughout the training courses, our faculty took an active part in discussions, interactive activities guided by a student-centered strategy, sharing timely feedbacks, which was highly valued and appreciated by the foreign colleagues.

Meanwhile, Centennial College offered a tour to the Progress campus with a focus on its library and featured laboratories such as Samsung Labs and Robotics Labs. Our faculty were deeply impressed not only by its profound cultural ambience and student-centered support services, but also its advances in technology and facilities preparing the students to meet industry needs.

Despite all the differences in education systems and policies, the one-week training served as an enlightening comparison on teaching evaluation and campus culture construction. Our 11 faculty members agreed that they would review the teaching methods and concepts learnt from the training thoroughly and apply them to their future practices.
